In terms of striking the perfect balance between ease of use, features, durability, and weatherproofing, the Black Wolf Turbo Plus is second to none.

The materials and construction are premium and it really is evident how much thought has gone into ensuring this tent provides the best user experience possible.

It is extremely spacious, super easy to set up and take down, and solid as a rock.

  • Capacity: 8 person (recommended 3-4)
  • Weight: 35 kg
  • Pros: High quality materials, solid construction, easy set up, spacious, very waterproof
  • Cons: Expensive

See how this tent ranks against other 8 person tents in our buying guide.

Setup

The Turbo range is frequently applauded for ease of set-up. With its rapid pitch, hubbed pole design, the Turbo Plus 300 goes up and down very fast and with little stress or complexity.

Simply unclip the compression straps, extend the lower parts of the poles, peg the tent down, step inside and lift the frame and with the connected dubbed pole design the tent comes to life.

To erect the additional room, extend the canvas, peg down, and the insert poles. All that remains is the fly which is easily connected to the frame.

All up you this should take a maximum of 10min – pretty impressive for a sturdy, heavy-duty, 8-person tent!

Weatherproofing

The Blackwolf Turbo range is built tough – this is a tent for families who want to invest in their camping safety and enjoyment for years to come.

A Heavy Duty PVC bucket floor ensures protection against moisture, while the outer is made from Heavy Duty Ripstop poly/cotton Canvas with an impressive 5000mm waterproof rating.

Both the floor and fly have waterproof taped seams for added moisture protection. The frame is made from super strong 25mm aluminium poles.

Gusseted windows offer additional defence against rain while maintaining ventilation. Even the awning is built tough – with its sturdy three-pole design providing resistance against rain and wind.

This tent should provide you with all the protection you need against a broad range of weather conditions.

Size

At 3.0m (main area) + 1.8m (additional room) in length x 3.0m width x 2.1m height, we think the Turbo Plus 300 is perfect for a family of 3-4 with additional storage and dining space.

There is a room divider to isolate the 1.8m bedroom at the back of the Turbo Plus, meaning it can be utilised as an extra sleeping area or for storage.

Features

The Turbo Plus comes with all the features you would expect from a premium tent. Roof vents, along with generous-sized windows, provide ample ventilation.

Power cord access is via a custom zippered design.

Windows and doors are made from a super tough fibreglass mesh, providing tear resistance along with insect protection.

There are also optional panels for the awning which can be used to create an additional living area.

What’s changed from the previous version?

The biggest change is that Black Wolf has added some new construction and re-enforcing where the floor meets the tent wall seam, where the fly sits on the frame, and where zips and side panels attach to the fly.

These upgrades add extra waterproofing and durability and in some cases allow for additional tape sealing.

They’ve also added extra storm flaps and are using better materials on the floor—a 600D siliconized polyester PU instead of PVC—so it’s stronger, more waterproof, and more durable than before.

Conclusion

What an awesome tent. It really ticks all the boxes in terms of what we want from a low-fuss family tent with premium waterproofing and materials.

To top things off, the Turbo Plus 300 comes with Black Wolf’s lifetime manufacturer’s warranty.
