Verdict:

The original Hubba Hubba has been a stalwart of the top ranked hiking and adventure tents over the years, and now it’s back with the new and improved Hubba Hubba NX.

The NX continues to present a great higher end option for those looking for a super lightweight, reliable hiking tent.

One area we thought the NX could have done better is with its internal space, with competition such as our top pick the Nemo Dagger providing more spacious alternatives at a similar weight.

If cost is a concern we this is a concern we recommend looking into the Zempire Atmos or Companion Pro Hiker.

Capacity: 2 person

Weight: 1.72 kg

Pros: Lightweight, reliable

Cons: Expensive, could be more spacious

Setup:

As is often the case with lightweight hiking tents, there are a couple of pitching options with the MSR Hubba Hubba NX. The first involves the use of a footprint (not included) and offers superior rigidity and moisture protection.

The second does not use a footprint, offering a reduced weight and more spacious interior.

Both are fairly straightforward in terms of set-up but ensure you have a practice at home first to get a hang of the connected pole design.

Weatherproofing:

The outer is made from 20D (outer) and 30D (floor) Ripstop Nylon. As with all hiking tents, there is going to be a compromise between rigidity and weight. The MSR Hubba Hubba NX Tent falls in the middle of the road here but we strongly suggest packing additional guy ropes and stakes to improve performance if you are likely to face windy conditions.

Size:

Marketed as a 2 person tent, the internal dimensions of 2.0m (L) x 1.3m (W) x 1.0m (H) are manageable but mean that you’ll be fairly cosy with your companion.

Packed dimensions are 0.2m (W) x 0.2M (H) x 0.5m (L).

Features:

The MSR Hubba Hubba NX Tent has a fully seam sealed waterproof fly, along with patented welded floors and inverted seams to keep the floor dry if you get unlucky with the weather.

Entrances are large which is great, and we also are big fans of the MSR compression sack.

Conclusion:

While not the groundbreaking market leader it once was, the Hubba Hubba continues to evolve and the NX represents a superb option in the super lightweight range.
