Blackwolf Turbo Lite Cabin Tent Review
The Blackwolf Turbo Lite Cabin 450 tent has a pop-up mechanism which allows for much easier set-up and take down than previous models.
We think it's fairly impressive in terms of speed and ease of use, however we do always recommend a trial run at home before you hit the road and to always have a second person available for assistance.
Waterproofing on the Blackwolf Turbo Lite range comes in at an impressive 2000m with the fly being made of 150D Ripstop Polyester and the floor from 500D Polyester.
The 2017 updates to this range include the addition of PVC Storm flaps at the sides and front improving weather resistance, and all seams are tape sealed to maximise waterproofing.
While the tough 25mm aluminium frame and solid construction mean this tent should withstand almost any conditions you encounter, given the size and height we recommend utilising all guy ropes.
If you are likely to be camping in very hot weather we recommend the slightly smaller, canvas versions of the Turbo range which offer improved breathability, or the canvas OzTent RV5.
This tent is marketed as a 10 person capacity however we would recommend it for a family of 4 or 5, or 4 adults, which will allow for additional storage and living space (see our article on tent capacity for more on this).
It is extremely spacious inside with a sleeping area of 4.5m x 3m and internal height of 2.3m.
An optional internal wall can be utilised to divide the internal space in two, and the double front doors mean both of these areas have external access.
The Blackwolf Turbo Lite Cabin 450 tent is the largest we review and is made from high-quality durable materials, which when combined makes this a fairly heavy tent, coming in at 30kg.
The massive front awning area can be used for outdoor dining or can function as an additional enclosed living area by utilising optional front and side panels.
Other optional extras including awning extenders and ground sheets, and mesh panels for insect protection. The guy rope windows mean you can maintain privacy while maximising ventilation.
The clever 3 pole awning design means that, unlike the Colemans Instant Up range, water drains from the awning roof easily even during heavy downpours.
Australian brand Blackwolf design all their tents to excel in the rugged Australian outdoors and the Blackwolf Turbo Lite Cabin 450 is no exception.
With superior build quality and impressive functionality, this is a tent that will continue to satisfy for many years. All Blackwolf tents come with a lifetime warranty, a testament to the pride they take in their construction. We rate this tent very highly and have no hesitation recommending it as a great option for Australian families.
